Hi everyone! We are pleased to announce that Apu has been bridged to Solana via Wormhole. In this article, we will go over: what this means for APU, how to purchase APU on Solana, and finally a guide on how to bridge your tokens to Solana.
Apu originally launched on Ethereum and with that comes gas fees. This creates a dynamic where the only people able to purchase Apu are those who can afford to pay anywhere from 10 to 100 dollars in fees. By bridging tokens over to Solana, we can now get Apu in the hands of more people who otherwise may not have bought in the first place due to cost prohibitive fees.
This does not mean that we have launched a new token on Solana. What we did was send tokens from Ethereum to Solana via the Wormhole bridge. The price on both chains should theoretically be the same. If they aren’t, parity is reached quickly by individuals and bots sending supply back and forth between the two chains and making buys/sells until both chains reflect an equal price.
First, we have now officially partnered with Moonshot - the easiest way to buy and sell memecoins on the app store.
The second recommended method to purchasing Apu is through Jupiter Exchange.
You will need a wallet that supports Solana. Our recommendation is Phantom Wallet if this is your first time on Solana and you are looking for a compatible wallet.
You can also find the Contract Address for the bridged Solana token on our front page for your convenience.
Lastly, we will go over how to bridge your tokens over to Solana if you so choose. Please reference this guide we have uploaded to Youtube.
First, you will want to make sure that you have enough ETH and SOL on each chain in order to submit a few transactions. Go to https://portalbridge.com/advanced-tools/#/transfer to begin. Select Ethereum in the first drop down and Solana in the second. Paste the Contract Address for Ethereum Apu and select how many tokens you would like to bridge. Approve the amount of tokens you would like to send and then send the tokens. Wait ~15 minutes for the bridging to be complete and then redeem.
In summary, bridging Apu to Solana now allows us to get Apu in the hands of more people that originally may not have been able to afford it on Ethereum due to its gas fees. Solana has managed exponential growth in popularity due to its cheaper fees, and it made the most sense to allow Solana users to be able to purchase Apu seamlessly.
This is standard for any token not native to Solana that bridges to the chain. It’s a form of advertisement for Wormhole and an easy way for users to know they can bridge their tokens back to Ethereum.
Nothing has changed with Apu on Ethereum. If you would like to continue purchasing Apu on Ethereum, or purchase Apu on Solana, it will be the same token on both chains. The purpose of bridging Apu to Solana was to get Apu in the hands of more users that may not want to pay expensive Ethereum gas fees, as well as reach a new type of buyer on Solana.
A: The market cap on both chains are a function of the amount of circulating supply multiplied by the price. As more Apu is bridged from Ethereum to Solana and vice versa, the market cap will go up without price moving. The supply of tokens on Solana is currently low in comparison to Ethereum, however we expect a % of the token supply to eventually be bridged to Solana over the coming months.
While the token on both Solana and Ethereum are the same, the liquidity and volume on both chains are separate. This causes an inefficiency between the two chains which is typically closed fairly quickly by arbitrage bots and individuals bridging tokens back and forth between the chains and making buys/sells until there is parity.
